After our amazing
Quail with Gnocchi dinner the night before, we had enough Gnocchi left to make another meal. So, I decided to use the leftover Gnocchi for breakfast.
This one is simple, simple simple. Just think of Gnocchi for breakfast like a little fluffy Italian Hash Brown.
I simply roasted some vine ripened tomatoes until they were soft.
Fried up some free range bacon and then the Gnocchi in the same pan.
Poach an egg to pop on top of it all and plate it up! Too easy!

I LOVE breakfast gnocchi. You should try the breakfast gnocchi at Provincia in Albert Park for some more inspiration. Similar to your recipe, but with italian sausage. Mmmmmm. It's been a while since I've been there, maybe they've changed their menu. Still, thanks for the memory-jogger.
What a nice and very beautiful presentation!
sounds delish! and would fill me up until lunch. have you worked out the best way to poach an egg? i'm still trying to work out the mystery :-)
Hello - just found your blog via the SBS newsletter thingy. It's really wonderful! And that quail looks amazing.
I just saw your stuff on SBS as well and was planning to make gnocchi today as it turns out. Checked out the masterchef recipe and will tweak my Maggie Beer recipe with it. Can't wait!

Simon the best way to poach an egg it to add a splash of vinegar to the water, bring it to the boil, be sure to use really fresh eggs, stir the water with a spoon to create a vortex/whirlpool and crack the egg into the centre of it. Cook for 3-5 mins for a soft yolk. Hope this helps.
